For Contractor's design and construct projects the absence of independently
appointed professional Architectural and Engineering Consultants can present
some disadvantages. When the Contractor offers an 'all-in' service of
this kind, the appointment of a Quantity Surveyor, employed direct by
the Client to protect his interests, is even more important.
The main disadvantage with a Contractor's design and construct contract is that you cannot be certain you are getting value for money. It is our role to act as the independent consultant to ensure you obtain the best deal by preparing a schedule of 'Employer's Requirements', providing contractual advice, obtaining and evaluating tenders which will include checking 'Contractor's Proposals', preparing contract documents and controlling post contract costs. We will act as a link between the Contractor and the Client through all stages of the project.
